About MJ Scannell
MJ Scannell Safety, established since 1981, is a fully owned Irish company specialising in Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) providing services to the Government, Semi-State, Construction & Engineering, Utilities, Food, Manufacturing and Services Industries.
We have grown through partnership with our Customers, by listening and understanding their needs. We developed relationships by putting in solutions whether through bespoke PPE, IT & Web system requirements, operational management, dedicated support teams and willingness to accept change and treat each Customer with honesty. It not about the Sale to us, it’s about putting the Customer first.
MJ Scannell has strategic locations in Stillorgan Industrial Park, Dublin and Little Island, Cork. Our stock holding at any one time exceeds €4M.c with the capacity to hold up to 2,500 pallets safely and securely on premises, both certified to BRCGS AA Standard and in full compliance with ISO 9001:2015, 45001:2018 and 14001:2015.
Since 2002, MJ Scannell Safety have been using our innovation & experience to design and develop our safety products under the REDBACK, ELK & BOA brands. These brands have become established benchmarks in the Irish PPE sector and are widely recognised as quality brands. Developed using over 40 years’ experience and knowledge of the needs, value and quality expected by all our customers from all industry sectors, all MJ Scannell branded products are fully EN certified.

Service and Product Quality
To enable us meet the needs of larger clients operating in multiple locations, MJ Scannell Safety operates a 4 POINT SERVICE MODEL. This model provides our customers with the assurance they need to rely on us as a single source supplier.
Uniform-Packing
MJ Scannell Safety was the 1st company in Ireland to provide a uniform-packing service thereby reducing customer in house stock levels.
Local Service
We offer our customers local showing and measuring services to help provide you with the best fit workwear.
Key Account Manager
All clients have an individual key account manager with office and mobile numbers where major account needs are resolved.
Customer Operations
Communication lines are handled by a dedicated internal customer operations account executive within MJ Scannell, allowing us to record the requirements of our customers.
Quality Assurance Systems
We operate our own internal quality system which is in accordance with the goals laid out in our quality policy. MJ Scannell has developed internal procedures where customer service / complaints are monitored by the office manager. Customer returns on key products are controlled by our customer returns programme which will, in addition allow us to measure the quality of product related to return of product.
Independent Testing
All products supplied by MJ Scannell Safety are tested and certified in recognised Test Houses such as Satra, Intertek and the British Standards Institution to name but a few . Certificates of Conformity, Specification Sheets and ISO Certs are checked by our product analysts before placing any orders with suppliers for products.
They offer comprehensive P.P.E. product testing service and certification service, Providing the most accurate interpretation of results, possessing considerable authority.
Value Added Benefits: Training
We have a close partnership with many of our suppliers who continually upgrade and add new products to their range. We, with their assistance will be happy to offer full specifications and/ or training where necessary.
One of the most controversial work areas where accidents frequently occur is from heights. MJ Scannell Safety has six staff members who are qualified to train users on the use, pitfalls and inspection of fall arrest equipment. We also operate a galvanised cable block repair service from our warehouse in Dublin.
Our Ongoing Re-examination of Products
The management of MJ Scannell Safety attends European Health & Safety exhibitions twice a year. In 2017, the main exhibition was the Dusseldorf A+A.
Such shows allow us to assess all our products as all of the key multinational manufacturers and suppliers of safety equipment and PPE are exhibited.
